Dr. Gina Spangler moved to Winston-Salem in 1996 to join,Dr. Mark Meyer in caring for children in our community. A native of North Carolina, she and her husband wanted to find an area to welcome both dentists and to raise a family. Forsyth County seemed like the perfect place. Dr. Gina is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Furman University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina (UNC) - Chapel Hill. Upon completion of a three-year residency program in Chapel Hill, she earned her certificate in pediatric dentistry and post doctoral Masters of Science at the UNC where she received extensive training in growth and development of children, adolescents, and special needs patients. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. During the process of becoming a Diplomat of the Board, Dr. Gina earned the James Roche Award of Excellence for scoring in the top three percent of all the national candidates on the Pediatric Dental Board Exam.
Dr. Gina is active in the community and organized dentistry. She is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Forsyth County Dental Society, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the Community Partnership for Dental Health in Forsyth County. Dr. Gina is an adjunct assistant professor on the faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill. She really enjoys teaching dental students and residents.
Family is a very important part of Dr. Gina's life and it keeps her busy. She is married to Dr. Vic Spangler, who is also a dentist in Winston-Salem. They have three children. Their son, Hudson is a freshman at Reagan High School, Avery is a student at Jefferson Middle School and their youngest, Sophie attends Jefferson Elementary School.
